Options For Study
Standard (2 years)
A full-time professional program for individuals with undergraduate degrees, designed to be completed over a 21-month period, including four academic semesters and one summer. Students will be expected to pay four semesters of tuition, and be on campus for two academic years. The summer is typically spent working with community partners gaining public health experience.
Fall semester start
Accelerated (12 months)
A full-time accelerated professional program for individuals with advanced health-related degrees (MD, DVM, DDS, etc.) or substantial professional public health experience (2+ years). This program will be completed in a 12-month period and will begin in the summer term. Students will be expected to pay three semesters of tuition, and be on campus for 12 months, including time working with community partners honing public health competence.

Admission Requirements
Prospective students will submit all required documentation through the third-party SOPHAS application. We are interested in students from a broad array of professional, academic, and geographic backgrounds. In addition to submitting the SOPHAS application, applicants must also submit a supplemental Cornell Graduate School application. Applications are reviewed through late Spring or early Summer with a Fall enrollment date for our standard two-year Program.
To apply, please submit:
- Official transcripts
- Résumé
- Personal statement that includes what you have experienced in your education, work, or life that is piqued your interest in public health
- Statement of intent that describes why you want to pursue your MPH at Cornell, and how our curriculum, faculty, and One Health approach, will help you achieve your professional goals
- Three (3) letters of reference
- Cornell Graduate School Quick Application (Public Health is listed under the Public Health & Planetary Health area of study)
- The GRE is not required.
International students also need to submit:
- Transcript evaluation from WES for foreign transcripts
- Submission of TOEFL or IELTS scores, taken within two years of the application deadline English language of instruction does not automatically waive this requirement. For more details, see the Cornell Graduate School English language proficiency requirements.
Minimum scores required:
- IELTS minimum overall band score of 7.0
- TOEFL minimum sub-scores for each element: Speaking: 22, Reading: 20, Listening: 15, Writing: 20
